Volunteer

As a parent group, we rely on volunteers both in-person and behind-the-scenes to help make Holm Elementary a better place for our students, teachers, and staff. To do that, we have started forming committees that focus on the different needs that we have identified. Below is a list and summary of all the committees we have. If you’d like to join a committee please contact us at holmhelpers@gmail.com OR sign-up at our next Holm Helper meeting.

In order to volunteer at the school in-person, you will need to have completed and passed this background check using Good Deed code e9x8to9: https://app.sterlingvolunteers.com/en/Candidates/Account/Register

Fundraiser Committee

The fundraiser committee focuses on raising money for the group. This money is used for the school, students, teachers, and staff. Some of our fundraisers include restaurant dine-in’s and yearbook quarter-page sales. This committee needs volunteers both in-person and behind-the-scenes.

Swag Committee

Swag, such as t-shirt, sweatshirts, and grocery bags, are a must-have for any school. This committee is focused on finding new products to sell, organizing our online shop, and making sure everyone gets their orders.

Bulletin Board Committee

This committee keeps information flowing. We try to update the bulletin boards with current information for both students and parents. Plus our creative side gets to come out! This committee needs in-person volunteers to go to the school and update the boards once a month or as needed.

Playground Clean Up Committee

Sometimes the school needs a little extra help and this committee is all about helping to keep the playgrounds in tip-top shape. Pulling weeds, raking up leaves and needles, and sweeping off the sidewalks is the goal. We have even pulled up stumps! The more volunteers we have for playground clean up the better.

Husky Hustle Committee

Join this committee and help organize this year’s Husky Hustle! The Husky Hustle has always been a fundraiser based on how many laps each student can run. It was suggested to change this to a fun run with an option to donate. Volunteers are needed to help plan and organize this event.

Recognition Committee

The goal of the recognition committee is to support teachers and staff throughout the year. This can include providing breakfast for the teachers or putting up signs in support of the staff. This committee needs volunteers both in-person and behind-the-scenes.

Yearbook Committee

This committee was formed last year because the school did not have the funds to create a yearbook. This year we plan to continue this effort and create lasting memories for the students. This is a long-term project of gathering memories from teachers, staff, parents, and students and requires volunteers to make that happen.

Teachers Grant Committee

Teachers are always in need of extra supplies so we have formed this committee to help with that. The committee is in charge of approving requests and dispersing the funds.

Pick-up / Drop-off Committee

It helps parents and staff when morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up run smoothly. This committee has volunteers helping with directing traffic, parking lot attendance, and helping students find the correct door to go into. This is an in-person volunteer opportunity.

Website Committee

This committee is in charge of new content, updating events, and providing information to parents, guardians, and the community. We need volunteers to help write content for our Holm Helpers website.

To join a committee or if you have any questions, please contact us at holmhelpers@gmail.com.

Our committees are always adapting. If you have any ideas for the existing committees or want to create a new one, please join one of our upcoming meetings.
